Cardiac Rehabilitation Workshop
Dear State or Affiliate Society President,
First, let me introduce myself. My name is John Porcari. I am the Executive Director of the La Crosse Exercise and Health Program at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Each year we typically have run a series of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation workshops. Normally they have been fairly well attended, but the past two years have seen a drop in attendance due to the economy and associated hospital cutbacks on travel budgets. This year we are only going to run one cardiac rehabilitation workshop. The dates of the workshop are September 20-23, 2010. When the economy picks back up, we hope to get back to our normal rotation of workshops.
In the past we have sent out over 40,000 brochures. Quite obviously, if we have only one workshop, the costs of mailing out that many brochures are prohibitive. Thus we are trying a different approach. Since most of our attendees are associated with state cardiopulmonary rehab programs, we thought we would try marketing through those organizations. But we need your help. What we are asking is if you would be willing to forward this email on to your membership. You are probably asking, “What’s in it for us”? If someone from your state or region registers as a direct result of your contacting them, we would be willing to give them a $50 discount off of the normal workshop rate of $585.
I realize this is a huge request and you may not be able to do it. If you cannot, I understand. One thing to remember is that the La Crosse Exercise and Health Program is a non-profit program run through the University. In the past 35 years, over 8000 professional from around the world have been trained at our workshops. We considered not doing them this year, but feel they are too valuable to the profession not to continue.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me. Thanks for your consideration. JP
